چکیده
Background: There is consistent evidence of the potential benefits lithium attenuating mechanisms neurodegeneration, including those related to pathophysiology Alzheimer’s disease (AD), and facilitating neurotrophic protective responses, maintenance telomere length. The aim was investigate effect pre-treatment with on amyloid-beta (Aβ)-induced toxicity length in neurons. Methods: Cortical neurons were treated chloride at therapeutic subtherapeutic concentrations (2 mM, 0.2 mM 0.02 mM) for seven days. Amyloid induced 24 h before end treatment. Results: Lithium resulted 120% mM), 180% (0.2 140% (0.02 increments as compared untreated controls. Incubation Aβ1-42 associated significant reductions MTT uptake (33%) (83%) Conclusions: prevented loss culture viability shortening neuronal cultures challenged Aβ fibrils.

Inhibition of the electrostatic interaction between beta-amyloid peptide and membranes prevents beta-amyloid-induced toxicity.
The accumulation of beta-amyloid peptides (Abeta) into senile plaques is one of the hallmarks of Alzheimer disease. Aggregated Abeta is toxic to cells in culture and this has been considered to be the cause of neurodegeneration that occurs in the Alzheimer disease brain. The discovery of compounds that prevent Abeta toxicity may lead to a better understanding of the processes involved and ultim...
متن کاملGabapentin prevents oxaliplatin-induced central sensitization in the dorsal horn neurons in rats
Objective(s): The present study aims to study the alteration of glutamatergic transmission in the dorsal horn neurons and the effect of gabapentin on oxaliplatin-induced neuropathic pain in rats. Materials and Methods: Oxaliplatin (5 mg/kg) or saline was administered to adult male Sprague-Dawley rats. Gabapentin (60 mg/kg, IP) or vehicle was injected daily. Mechanical allodynia was assessed us...
متن کاملγ-Tocotrienol prevents oxidative stress-induced telomere shortening in human fibroblasts derived from different aged individuals
The effects of palm gamma-tocotrienol (GGT) on oxidative stress-induced cellular ageing was investigated in normal human skin fibroblast cell lines derived from different age groups; young (21-year-old, YF), middle (40-year-old, MF) and old (68-year-old, OF). Fibroblast cells were treated with gamma-tocotrienol for 24 hours before or after incubation with IC50 dose of H2O2 for 2 hours. Changes ...
متن کاملLPYFDa neutralizes amyloid-beta-induced memory impairment and toxicity.
Misfolding, oligomerization, and aggregation of the amyloid-beta (Abeta) peptide is widely recognized as a central event in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Recent studies have identified soluble Abeta oligomers as the main pathogenic agents and provided evidence that such oligomeric Abeta aggregates are neurotoxic, disrupt synaptic plasticity, and inhibit long-term potentiation. A...
متن کاملRapid telomere shortening in children.
Telomere shortening may reflect the total number of divisions experienced by a somatic cell and is associated with replicative senescence. We found that the average rate of telomere shortening in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) obtained longitudinally from nine different infants during the first 3 years of life (270 bp per year) is more than fourfold higher than in adults and does no...
